State trooper injured in crash with alleged drunken driver

A state trooper is recovering tonight after officials say a drunken driver slammed into the back of his police cruiser.Authorities say it happened in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT - A state trooper is recovering tonight after officials say a drunken driver slammed into the back of his police cruiser.

Authorities say it happened in Bridgeport near the intersection of Boston and Palisade avenues just before 1 a.m. today.

Police say the driver failed a sobriety test and they arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Officials say the officer in the passenger seat of the cruiser was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for a back injury.
