BRIDGEPORT - Connecticut State Police troopers are advising residents to be careful this coming Fourth of July weekend, reminding them not to drink and drive.

News 12 spoke with a state trooper who says now is a good time remind drivers that first-time DUI offenders will now be required to install a Breathalyzer in their vehicle.

The Breathalyzer, called an ignition interlock device, will not allow a start if a driver blows anything above a blood-alcohol level of .025. The law went into effect on Wednesday.

State troopers have praised the device, saying it helps raise awareness of the consequences for drinking and driving.
