HARTFORD - State union leaders are scrambling today to find a solution to avoid massive layoffs as a result of last week's failed labor-deal vote.

The deal was to provide $1.6 billion in savings over two years to help balance the new state budget.

Leaders are said to be looking into whether there can be a re-vote for the unions that rejected the deal.

Governor Malloy says if there's no re-vote, he'll do his best to lessen the number of layoffs.
