NORWALK - A statewide bus strike has been averted for now.

Connecticut Transit says it has reached a short-term agreement with 750 of its drivers and maintenance workers.

Employees had threatened to go on strike when their current agreement expired tomorrow at midnight.

The company says its employees in Hartford, New Haven and Stamford agreed to extend their bargaining agreement through Jan. 11 to give management time to consider a counter-proposal from the workers' union.
