STAMFORD - People in Stamford took to the track today in the fight against a rare disease.

The annual "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" walk was held at Westhill High School. Organizers say patients and friends walked as many laps as they could to raise money for research.

Scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue disease that is extremely painful and often fatal.

Organizers say they have been able to raise nearly $400,000 for research over the past several years.
