Stratford boy calls 911 for help when father collapses

STRATFORD - An 8-year-old Stratford boy is being hailed as a hero after calling the police when his father suddenly collapsed Thursday.

Michael Spoto was staying home from school with a sickness on Thursday when his father passed out on their bathroom floor. That’s when the boy sprang into action.

His father tells News 12 that Michael called 911 and stayed with him until an ambulance arrived.

“He was very soothing, touching my back, comforting me, got me a blanket,” the father said. “I was really shocked to see how calm he was in that situation.”

Doctors say he was diagnosed with nausea and vomiting. He says it was a result from a stomach virus.

“I wanted to help my dad because I love him,” said the 8-year-old hero.
