STRATFORD - A Stratford man is headed to Washington, D.C. to receive a national award for his work in combating climate change.
Patrick Carolan, executive director of the Franciscan Action Network, will be one of a dozen people to receive the "Champion for Change" award at the White House next Monday.
Carolan says his passion for the environment began at a young age. He says he was partly motivated to fight climate change because of his religious studies.
Earlier this year, Carolan co-founded the Global Catholic Climate movement. The organization works with Catholic communities around the world to raise awareness about global warming.
Carolan's organization is also working to create a petition to urge people to fight climate change. He says he aims to receive millions of signatures worldwide.
