STRATFORD - Stratford police say a man posing as a Craigslist buyer stole two dirt bikes and attempted to steal a third.

The three separate incidents happened around Clover Park within nearly a week of each other.

Police said the suspect saw the dirt bikes advertised on Craigslist and then contacted the sellers to have them meet him with their vehicles.

The suspect allegedly met with the sellers on two separate incidents at homes on Light Street and Clover Street. Unbeknownst to the sellers, the homes were vacant. The man then asked to test ride the dirt bikes and never returned.

Investigators said that there was another suspicious incident where a seller showed up at a home on Saint Michaels Avenue with his bike, but the potential buyer did not.

Police believe the suspect lives in the area near Clover Park or just over the Bridgeport line.
