STRATFORD - Stratford police have stepped up security at a local elementary school after threatening graffiti was found painted on the building.

The message "Death 2 thee kids" was spray-painted on Second Hill Lane School.

Stratford Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour says the approaching anniversary of the massacre at Newtown gave the message a frightening overtone.

However, he says, "At no time were the kids or the faculty in any immediate danger."

He also says the additional security means that parents can drop off their children at school without worry.

Additional graffiti with the same threatening tone was found on the roof of the school.

"We are taking it seriously and we're going to move forward with the investigation," Ridenhour says.
