Stratford welcomes 2 new fire trucks

STRATFORD - The town of Stratford has two new fire trucks ending what had been a long running controversy in the town.

New Stratford Mayor John Harkins had made the trucks a focal point of his campaign and one of his first orders of business upon being sworn in was to sign the purchase order for the $800,000 trucks.

The town's fire department says the new trucks will make a big difference and will allow them to take two older trucks and make them spares.

Stratford's fire chief plans to place an order Wednesday for the necessary tools and hopes the trucks will be on the road the first week of February.
