NORWALK - School is back in session for thousands of students in southwestern Connecticut Monday after having a week off due to storm damage and power outages.

Officials in Norwalk say they're asking the state for an exemption that would allow them to complete the school year in less than the mandated 180 days. School officials in Stamford have chosen to make up the missed days at the end of the year.

In Greenwich, officials say they're considering canceling their April spring break. The issue will be discussed in a meeting Thursday.
