CHESHIRE - This morning, the sole survivor of the deadly 2007 Cheshire home invasion is calling the re-sentencing of one of the killers "sad."
Dr. William Petit was badly beaten in the attack, but his wife and two daughters were killed.
Their killer, Steven Hayes, has been taken off of death row and instead will spend the rest of his life in prison.
His sentence was changed because last August Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled that a law passed in 2012 banning the death sentence for all future cases is unconstitutional.
Yesterday, Hayes was sentenced to six life sentences instead.
