FAIRFIELD - Police say they now know who led them on a car-turned-foot chase early Saturday morning.

The chase began at around 12:30 a.m. when police say they followed a white Toyota Avalon in Bridgeport. The car made it to I-95, where it got off at exit 24 in Fairfield. The suspect crashed the car into a pole in front of Miller Nissan on Kings Highway East, then fled on foot.

Police say they hope to have the suspect, who has a criminal record and is currently wanted on motor vehicle charges, in custody within a day.
