FAIRFIELD - A jellyfish advisory and recent reports of swimmer's itch at some local beaches are not discouraging swimmers from enjoying the nice weather.

Health officials tell News 12 that swimmer's itch is a minor allergy that only some people get. A person can get a rash and some blisters. Doctors say an over-the-counter antihistamine can usually stop the itching. If not, a steroid treatment is the next line of defense.

Beachgoers stung by a jellyfish are advised to pour vinegar on the sting, which can usually make any pain or itching subside right away.
