GREENWICH - A group of Greenwich residents are upset about plans to build a synagogue in the area and are holding a meeting tonight at the Cos Cob Fire Department to discuss how the temple could negatively affect their neighborhood.

The Greenwich Reform Synagogue purchased a plot of land at 92 Orchard St. last year and has plans to purchase two abutting lots. Opponents say building a synagogue in the neighborhood will drive down property values and create a traffic nightmare on an already busy street.

Synagogue president Robert Birnbaum says the temple will hold public input sessions when the blueprint is ready in six months.
