STAMFORD - (AP) - A Stamford official says talks are underway involving the potential sale of the Clairol Inc. headquarters,slated for shutdown next year.
City Economic Development Director Michael Freimuth saysClairol's parent company is in what he describes as extensiveconversations with a potential buyer.
Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble in May began to market the32.68-acre Clairol property. The company announced last year itwould shut down the headquarters to save on labor costs.
Procter & Gamble began laying off hundreds of full-time Clairolemployees in January, with layoffs to continue in phases throughMarch 2010.
Procter & Gamble officials said they would move about 200administrative workers to Cincinnati and most of the 415manufacturing jobs at the Stamford hair color plant would go to aplant in Mexico.
