MINNEAPOLIS - Officials of retail giant Target announced today that hackers may have gained access to millions of credit card data information this holiday shopping season.

In a statement released on Target's website, officials said approximately 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have been impacted between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15, 2013.

Target says it is working with authorities and financial institutions to resolve the breach.
