STAMFORD - Stamford police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with the stabbing death of a taxi driver.

A landscaper found the body of driver Mahomed Kamal on Wednesday shortly after 8 a.m. outside a house on Doolittle Drive. Police say Kamal's taxi was found further down in the woods.

Kamal was stabbed multiple times. Police believe there was a violent struggle inside and outside his cab. Kamal may have been robbed by the suspect who was a passenger, police say.

Friends who visited the scene tell News 12 Connecticut that Kamal was from Bangladesh and has a young son.
