NORWALK - A possible witness to the murder of a Norwalk teen appeared in court today.

Police say they believe Joseph Bateman, 19, witnessed the murder of his friend, Amos Brown Jr., on Friday.

They say they stopped Bateman on Tuesday because he was seen driving a car with bullet holes. Authorities say a witness has since placed Bateman at the scene of the crime.

Police say they found a handgun in Bateman's car, however, they do not believe Bateman shot Brown.

Brown's family says they believe their son was the target of gang retribution after Brown was found to have acted in self defense when he fatally stabbed Tykwon Hunt in 2008.

Bateman is being held on $100,000 bond.
