(07/22/10) STRATFORD - Police say the 16-year-old who allegedly attempted to rob the Bank of America on Main Street in Stratford is claiming he was conned.

The suspect said a man named "Ed" gave him an envelope and told him there was a check inside that he needed cashed. Police say the teen handed the teller the envelope and then grabbed it back and fled after the teller showed it to the manager.

Police say they were able to identify the teen from the bank's surveillance video.
