BRIDGEPORT - A Greenwich nonprofit is helping the Bridgeport Rescue Mission recover from some recent robberies.

Police say thieves broke into the Rescue Mission's warehouse on Connecticut Avenue three times, stealing thousands of dollars in donated food and clothing. The Needs Clearing House, based in Greenwich, presented the Rescue Mission with an aid package Wednesday to help it recover.

The NCH donated security services and Mark Brown from Mark's Total Alarms in New Haven will help the group decide what security system will be the best for its warehouse. The NCH also donated some goods free of charge, including new bed sheets to replace the stolen ones that were recently donated. The Rescue Mission was also presented with $1,000 from the NCH.

The Rescue Mission's executive director Terry Wilcox says he is very grateful for the help. "It's just wonderful," says Wilcox. "It bespeaks the generosity of the people in Fairfield County."

The NCH will also hold a clothing drive to replace the clothes that were stolen.
