MILFORD - Wicked weather knocked out power to thousands of people across southwestern Connecticut today.

At Orchard Hills Elementary School in Milford, students were trying to learn in the dark this morning.

Students at the city's Foran High School were released early this morning because of the power outage.

United Illuminating says its crews were busy today and will work until power is fully restored.

The power utility says it hopes to have power restored tonight.
