Tornado damage tops $3 million and growing

BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport released damage totals yesterday for the tornado that passed through the city last week.

So far, they've added up more than $3 million in damages in the Park City, with the total still rising as more reports are made.

Officials say about $2 million of that is to city-owned property. Bridgeport says it has also spent more than $500,000 on labor alone for all the public works and safety crews.

Two buildings in the city were demolished, seven have been declared unsafe and uninhabitable and nine others have damage. The Red Cross says 40 families lost their homes.
