Tractor-trailer goes up in flames at Walmart

Fire officials say that during today's heavy rainstorm, a primary wire became disconnected, landed on and set fire to a tractor-trailer in a shopping center

NORWALK - Fire officials say that during today's heavy rainstorm, a primary wire became disconnected, landed on and set fire to a tractor-trailer in a shopping center parking lot.

It happened shortly before 5 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot at the intersection of Connecticut and Richards avenues.

Police and city officials had to wait for the power to be shut off in order to get to the truck.

Authorities say that fortunately the truck's trailer was empty.

They say residents and businesses lost power on Richard's Avenue for some time during the incident.
