STAMFORD - The U.S. Passport Office on Canal Street in Stamford saw a steady stream of people today despite an overseas travel alert.

U.S. citizens are being warned of a potential terrorist attack in the Middle East and North Africa, but News 12 Connecticut did not meet many people heading to those destinations.

Most travelers in Stamford say they are concerned about the alert, but that it won't stop them from traveling abroad.

The president of a Westport travel agency says her clients who head to the Middle East or North Africa are usually traveling for business. She also told News 12 that she has no trips planned for there right now.

A brochure from the State Department encourages all passport holders to sign up for the Smart Traveller Enrollment Program, which provides information specific to their itinerary in case of an emergency.
