WESTPORT - A postal worker managed to escape with only minor injuries after a tree fell on his mail truck Monday, bringing down power lines in the process.

The incident occurred on Cross Highway. In addition to the falling tree, the live power lines sparked a fire.

The driver, Thomas Morena, was able to crawl out before rescue crews arrived. The 30-year veteran of the postal service suffered only minor cuts in the accident.
