Trooper, driver sent to hospital after crash in New Haven

The collision happened at around 1 a.m. near the I-91 and I-95 interchange in New Haven. (5/1/14)

NEW HAVEN - State police are investigating a crash that sent a trooper to the hospital.

The collision happened at around 1 a.m. near the I-91 and I-95 interchange in New Haven.

Police say a trooper turned on his emergency lights and parked his cruiser in front of the on-ramp to northbound I-95 because of flooding. They say a driver then rear-ended the cruiser.

Both the trooper and the other driver were taken to the hospital.
