GREENWICH - A truck driver has been issued tickets for an accident in Greenwich that led to crippling delays on the Merritt Parkway yesterday.

Police say the driver was from California and didn't know that having a commercial truck on the parkway is illegal. They say he was issued tickets for driving an unauthorized vehicle on the parkway, exceeding clearance and failing to obey a traffic control device.

Fume Lewis, a woman who was driving behind the truck, told News 12 Connecticut that she is happy to be alive. Lewis says she was driving back home with her 6-month-old and mother when the truck hit the overpass.

She and her family were unharmed.
