Trumbull officer lauded for liver transplant

TRUMBULL - A Trumbull police officer is in the running for a national award because of what his friends say was an act of selflessness in helping a young girl in need.

Police officer Mike Gonzalez is nominated for an America's Most Wanted All-Star award. The competition includes first responders from across the country and voting can be done online.

Gonzalez's friends nominated him after he donated a piece of his liver to 16-year-old Kyleigh Leos, the daughter of a colleague on the Trumbull Police Department.
