RIDGEFIELD - Tucker West, an 18-year-old from Ridgefield, is one of Connecticut's youngest Olympians. He's representing the U.S. in luge at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
His mother, Pam West, says he began training for the sport at age 8 in the Adirondacks. She says Tucker was so taken by the sport that his father built him his very own luge in the backyard. The track runs 750 feet and features an uphill section.
Tucker qualified for the team in December during a solid showing at the World Cup in Park City, Utah.
