NORWALK - There have been two overdoses in Greenwich in recent months and now a recovering addict is recounting his downward spiral with drug use.

The young man, who didn't want his identity revealed, is a natural athlete studying to be an architect. However, he almost saw his dreams disappear after getting hooked on painkillers.

He says his addiction started sometime around his senior year in high school. He says he was given painkillers after having knee surgery. He adds that he started to snort the painkillers to get high. Then, when he couldn't get the painkillers, he started to use heroin.

A therapist based in New Canaan says painkiller use among young people is becoming more common.

Unfortunately, police say kids often graduate from painkillers to heroin before they get help.
