NEW HAVEN - United Illuminating and Southern Connecticut Gas are warning customers of a possible scam.

The companies say there have been reports of people posing as company workers and going to customers' homes.

Officials say they usually schedule appointments to do utility work.

They say residents should always ask to see a photo ID.
