FAIRFIELD - Police responded to the East Cemetery in Fairfield this morning after a resident reported that historic gravestones had been overturned.

The neighbor says she was walking her dog through the historic cemetery when she noticed that close to a dozen of the centuries-old stones had been vandalized.

It is the second time this week that police investigated reports of vandalism in a local cemetery.

Neighbors suspect teenagers may be responsible, while cemetery officials say the headstones will be repaired in the coming weeks.
