BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport veterans are thanking Gov. Dannel Malloy for his pledge to end homelessness for veterans by the close of 2015.

The proposal, made in Malloy's State of the State address, focuses on funds for job placement and financial support to existing state facilities.

Staff at the Homes for the Brave shelter say that more than 400 veterans across Connecticut are currently homeless. Their facility houses up to 42 veterans.

Officials at the shelter are urging any veterans struggling with employment and housing to contact them.
