NORWALK - The Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association is warning pet owners across the state about a severe canine respiratory outbreak.

The association says cases have so far only been reported at one kennel in Windsor, where one dog has died.

Veterinarians say there have been no reported cases in southwestern Connecticut, but they are still trying to inform pet owners about warning signs. Those signs include fever, coughing, pneumonia and bleeding through the nostrils. Veterinarians also say owners who notice any of these signs should separate the pet from other animals.

The state veterinarian's office says it's investigating the cases that have already been reported.
