DARIEN - A vigil was held tonight to honor a ninth-grader from Darien High School who suddenly died last Friday.

School officials say Andy Pena, 14, died Friday while visiting Boston for his brother's swim meet. Donald Fiftal, the superintendent of Darien schools, says the teen died shortly after collapsing while running on a treadmill.

The school district says it is providing grief counselors to help students deal with the death.

More than 700 people have joined a webpage in his memory on Facebook.

The wake for Pena will be held on Wednesday and his funeral on Thursday.
