NEWTOWN - The community of Newtown gathered Friday in remembrance of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The vigil took place at the Newtown Congregational Church Friday evening.

The shooting occurred six months ago when a gunman burst into the school in Newtown, killing 20 students and six educators.

Organizers called the vigil a community-wide gathering for healing and hope.

The Rev. Matt Crebbin says, "The way we try to make sense is to recognize we're still on a journey and we're taking it one step at a time."
