GREENWICH - A Ridgefield man is charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run over the weekend in Greenwich.

Meghan Beebe, 21, of Middlebury, was hit on William Street in Greenwich early Saturday morning and dragged several blocks. Vyacheslav Cherepov, 26, of Ridgefield, is charged in the crash.

Police say Cherepov stopped at first, long enough for Beebe's friend to provide officers with a description of the suspect and his car. He then allegedly took off down the street, dragging Beebe to her death. Authorities later found his car in the William Street parking lot and discovered that Cherepov works at a restaurant in the area.

Cherepov is facing one charge of second-degree manslaughter and evading responsibility. He is being held on $500,000 bond and awaiting his next day in court.
