Wake held Thursday for Maren Sanchez, victim killed in Jonathan Law High School stabbing

MILFORD - Thousands of people said their final goodbyes Thursday to the Milford teenager killed at Jonathan Law High School last week.

A wake was held Thursday at the Cody-White Funeral Home on Broad Street for 16-year-old Maren Sanchez. Police say she was stabbed in a hallway by a classmate.

Students say the suspect, 16-year-old Christopher Plaskon, attacked her after she turned down his request to go with him to the prom.

There has been an outpouring of grief from classmates and the community since Sanchez was killed just hours before her prom.

Many of the people who came to pay their respects Thursday wore the color purple, which apparently was Sanchez's favorite color.

Therapy dogs were also part of the line outside the funeral home to help people deal with their grief.

There will be no formal funeral for Sanchez and her burial will be private.
