FAIRFIELD - Shoppers at two different grocery stores in Fairfield had wallets stolen from their carts on Saturday.

Police say a woman was shopping at the Super Stop & Shop on Kings Highway when her purse, containing an iPhone and credit cards, was stolen. The iPhone was tracked to a Bridgeport location.

Thirty minutes later, the wallet of another woman was stolen at the Whole Foods on Grasmere Avenue. Her credit card company notified her that someone tried to buy a prepaid Visa card at a CVS on Black Rock Turnpike.

Police are unsure if the incidents are related.

Shoppers can prevent these incidents from happening by holding on to their property and being aware of their surroundings, police say.
