SOUTHINGTON - More than halfway through December, Mount Southington Ski Area remains closed.

Employees say their opening has been delayed due to the unseasonably warm weather. However, they say they are testing the ski machines today in advance of colder temperatures expected this weekend.

General manager Jay Dougherty says the resort didn't open until Dec. 31 a couple years ago.

This year, the resort hopes to open by early January.
