MILFORD - Four new signs have been posted at Silver Sands State Park in Milford to warn beachgoers about the dangers of crossing the sandbar.

A 34-year-old man from Hamden drowned on July 4 as he was trying to walk back to the beach from Charles Island.

The state is also considering other safety measures, including installing 911 call boxes and leaving emergency watercraft at the beach for lifeguards.
