WESTON - A Weston homeowner is battling with town officials over a stone wall he built and a property line.
In 2007, Sunil Ippagunta built a home at 20 Martin Rd. At that time, he obtained permits for his long driveway. He also built a retaining wall near the driveway to protect a tree.
According to the town, the wall is on town property and Ippagunta never obtained the correct permits to build the structure.
The area where the wall sits used to be a road, but has not been used in more than 60 years. Ippagunta and his attorney believe the wall should stay due a law called adverse possession. However, First Selectman Woody Bliss says that law applies to private parties, not municipal property.
Ippagunta says he and his attorney plan to take the town to court over the matter.
