WESTPORT - Deli owners in Westport say they are taking action because out-of-the-area food truck vendors are coming into their neighborhoods and snapping up their profits.

Some deli owners have started a petition asking the community to help ban food trucks in the Comp Beach area, and they've collected 145 signatures over two days.

The town's website says that vendors need to apply to various town departments to sell their food, and once approved, they must pay $35 per year for a license.

Local delis say their complaints to the town have gone unanswered.

One local deli says that the food trucks came to the area after it was devastated by Superstorm Sandy to cater to the construction crews who are working on repairs.

Calls for comment to town officials have not yet been returned.
