Westport man appears in court on home invasion charges

WESTPORT - A Westport man appeared in court today on charges that he broke into a home and attacked one of the residents.

Police say 20-year-old Tyler Horn got into a home on Imperial Avenue through an unlocked door early yesterday morning and beat 19-year-old John Hanley.

Hanley's attorney says he knew Horn and that the fight may have been over a woman. Hanly is still recovering at Norwalk Hospital, according to his lawyer.

Horn is charged with home invasion, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. If he's convicted, Horn could face a minimum of 10 years in prison.

The judge ordered Horn to keep at least 100 yards away from Hanley, and not to communicate with him in any way. Horn is due back in court on June 1.
