Westport man arrested for alleged domestic incident

WESTPORT - A Westport father is facing multiple charges after police say he was involved in a domestic incident and then barricaded himself inside his home along with three children under the age of 8 last night.

Police say Charles Shaw's wife told them the 41-year-old was stressed about money and claims he had spent $40,000 on prostitutes. They say she also told them he had been drinking heavily all weekend and had threatened to kill her if she didn't leave the house.

Lt. Vincent Penna says the standoff ended at around 3:30 a.m. when members of the Southwest Regional Tactical Team forced their way into the home and arrested Shaw.

Shaw is being held on $5,000 bond and is due back in court in early December.
