NORWALK - A Westport man that police say may be responsible for several break-ins in the area was arraigned today.

Police arrested Lee Bates, 25, on Friday after a report of a burglary. A resident called police after seeing two cars parked in front of a neighbor?s home.

When officers stopped Bates, they say they found goods stolen from the home and a Fairfield antique dealer, as well as heroin and cocaine in his car. They say they found more stolen items when they later searched his home.

According to court documents, Bates confessed to four area burglaries including Friday?s incident. He was on probation for a previous burglary when he was arrested, police say.
