Westport man pays up for piece of President Obama's past

SOUTHPORT - A Westport resident paid seven times the Blue Book value through an online auction for a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee once owned by President Barack Obama.

John Reznikoff says he had no problem paying $26,000 for the vehicle, which has 133,000 miles and was originally valued at only $3,500. A self-proclaimed treasure hunter, Reznikoff also owns the Lincoln Continental President John F. Kennedy drove in the day of his assassination, among other presidential memorabilia.

The car is now stored in the Classic Car Gallery in Southport. Motor vehicle records report that the president used the Jeep to get around during his time as an Illinois state senator.
