Westport man topples Costanza's Frogger score

WESTPORT - A Westport man has set a new world record and toppled a pop culture icon at the same time.

Patrick Laffaye scored a world record 896,980 points on the video game Frogger. That beats the previous world record and also the fictional one set by George Costanza on the show Seinfeld.

Costanza's personal best score of 860,630 was the basis for the popular "Frogger" episode of the long running sitcom.

Laffaye's record game spanned 225 levels over 5 hours and 15 minutes all without a bathroom break. The 45-year-old set the record on the 28-year-old console he owns in his basement.
