WESTPORT - Members of the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission toured the Linxweiler property on Post Road East Thursday as part of their process of deciding whether to allow affordable housing on the site.
The land was donated to the town by Joanna Linxweiler when she died in 1981 and has remained open since.
Her will stated, "Without placing restrictions or a trust on this gift, it is my hope and desire the property be used for a park or recreational area."
Now, the Interfaith Housing Association wants to build 12 supportive housing units in three buildings on the property.
A vote on the plan could come as soon as Thursday night.
